Finding His Own Creative Passions

“I’ve always had a deep love for storytelling and visual art,” says Nick, who co-created his own comic book series Incarnate while still in his 20s. “While I have a deep respect and appreciation for my dad’s musical legacy, I knew early on that I wanted to carve out my own creative niche.”
Of course, having the last name Simmons opened doors for Nick in entertainment and publishing. But he worked hard to build credibility independent of his genealogy. “There’s always going to be a certain level of curiosity and interest in me simply because of who my dad is,” he acknowledges.
“But at the end of the day, the work has to speak for itself. I’ve had to prove that I have something unique and valuable to offer as an artist and creator.”
Appreciating His Rock Royalty Roots
Despite forging his own path, Nick developed a greater appreciation for his lineage as he matured. In interviews, he now speaks with visible admiration about his dad’s larger-than-life persona and career.
“What my dad and the rest of the band achieved is truly remarkable,” he says. “They took this outrageous, over-the-top concept and turned it into a global phenomenon that’s inspired generations of fans and artists. That’s something to be celebrated and honored.”
Intriguingly, Nick hints that he may follow more closely in his father’s footsteps in the future. In one interview, he says: “Who knows? Maybe someday you’ll see me breathing fire and spitting blood onstage with KISS makeup on. Stranger things have happened…”

As he continues nurturing projects like comic books, films and documentaries, Nick seems grateful for his unconventional but privileged upbringing. “Growing up as the son of a rock star was definitely an adventure,” he reflects. “It wasn’t always easy, but it taught me so much about perseverance, adaptability and staying true to myself.”
