The failed test garnered widespread condemnation from boxers and MMA fighters alike, but none were as vocal as UFC superstar Conor McGregor. In a series of fiery social media posts, McGregor blasted Garcia for cheating and threatened violent retribution if they ever meet.

“Cheated the weight and was juiced, lifetime ban,” McGregor fumed. “Sad to see, sad to say. Sad and a bit sick. Don’t come near me if I see you ever Ryan Garcia. I am actually disgusted.”

The outspoken Irishman continued his tirade, challenging both Garcia and O’Malley to meet him for a sparring session. “Hotel, black forge inn the lot. #LetsSparOMalley and #Garcia two little ostarine heads I’ll ride you both like yous are ostriches,” he wrote.

McGregor then turned his ire directly at Garcia, attacking his character and manhood.

“Wtf is up. What do you think you are at? If I was Haney’s dad you’re dead no matter what for doing that. Crazy. What the f–k happened to you, you little fool. Get your head together cos I’m gonna smash it in with elbows if you don’t.”

The former two-division UFC champion praised Haney for his gutsy performance against Garcia despite the failed drug test. “Fair play Devin well done. Your performance has just become even more heroic! Bravo.”

He closed his rant with a final warning shot at Garcia: “GET YOUR HEAD TOGETHER OR KILL YOURSELF.”

Garcia was quick to fire back at McGregor in an X video, denying ever having taken steroids and questioning McGregor’s own supplement use.

“I’ve never taken anything illegal. I don’t know where this is coming from,” Garcia claimed. “And McGregor, don’t get me started about you and your little steroid ass. I’m gonna break your other ankle if you try to come up to me.”

The 23-year-old vowed to clear his name and have the drug test results overturned. But if the B-sample comes back positive as well, Garcia stands to have his career-making victory stricken from the record books.

Haney was the heavy betting favorite leading up to the April matchup, boasting a perfect 27-0 record and the WBC world title. But Garcia shocked the boxing world by knocking Haney down three times and controlling most of the action, winning via 114-113, 114-113, 113-114 scores.

The epic upset was dampened by Garcia missing weight the day prior, coming in over three pounds heavy at 143.8 pounds. As a result, only Garcia was eligible to win the world title. Now, both fighters stand to have their reputations tarnished from the drug test results.

McGregor and Garcia had previously exchanged pleasantries leading up to the Haney fight. But news of the failed test sent McGregor into a rage, threatening violent retribution in a potential boxing match or MMA bout.

While McGregor remains sidelined from MMA with a broken leg suffered in July 2021 , he is targeting a UFC return this summer against Michael Chandler. Perhaps we could see McGregor shift his sights to Garcia in the future, settling their beef mano a mano in the boxing ring.
